Kerry stands up for the BBC

31 March 2017

The BBC has recently come under attack from pro-Brexit MPs for alleged bias in its EU coverage, with one MP accusing the BBC of suffering "a collective nervous breakdown" over the referendum result.

I have joined more than 80 cross-party MPs and MEPs in signing a letter calling on the BBC to stand firm against such unfounded allegations, and to continue to provide balanced, impartial coverage of the Brexit negotiations.

While ‘fake news’ and ‘alternative facts’, or, if you prefer, misinformation and deception, continue to proliferate on social media, and with the likes of Michael Gove expressing his disdain for "experts", it’s more important than ever to safeguard the independence of the BBC.
