This application goes before the relevant committee tonight, after opposition from almost 100 local residents concerned about fundamental problems with the plans – particularly in relation to parking and traffic. I am hopeful that the right decision is taken, and that the developer will act on the concerns of local people.

Bristol has an urgent need for more housing – particularly affordable housing – and I welcome the progress which is already being made under Mayor Marvin Rees, but I cannot support developments which local communities oppose on legitimate grounds such as these.
