Kerry meets with new Youth Council

Home / News / News from Bristol East / Kerry meets with new Youth Council

15 April 2017

This week, I met with the newly elected Bristol City Youth Council, Bristol's Youth Mayors, and Bristol's Members of the UK Youth Parliament , to discuss the manifesto which they will be taking to a meeting of Bristol City Council next month. They have already been working closely with Marvin Rees, the Mayor of Bristol, and have set out priorities including quality work experience for all; better Personal, Social, and Health Education; democracy, including votes at 16; and non-discrimination and equalities issues.

They are all serving a two-year term of office, after a record 12,500 young people voted them in (37% of the electorate) – more than a third higher than the turnout which saw George Ferguson elected as Mayor of Bristol in 2012.
