Kerry backs Rovers' calls for investigation into Port Vale's policing and stewarding

20 February 2017

Given fans' testimony, supported by videos like the below one from BBC Points West, it's clear that Bristol Rovers' chairman, Steve Hamer, is right to call for a full investigation into the conduct of police and stewards during the match at Port Vale on Saturday.

Several Rovers fans required medical treatment, after being punched, head-butted, or sprayed with pepper spray. Port Vale FC have so far not commented on these incidents or on the arrest of one of their match day officials.

Anyone who was there, and has information relating to these incidents, should contact Staffordshire Police on 101, quoting incident number 238 of 18 February, or, if they wish to remain anonymous, Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

I have written to both clubs to outline my concerns, and to Staffordshire Police to ask that they fully investigate.
