Ricardo, 20, is from Barton Hill and works as a young advisor and youth worker. When he was just 13, he first got involved with the East Bristol group, Community at Heart and since then he has been key in ensuring that young people had a voice so that they could benefit from the help and funding on offer.
He joined the Youth Forum and the Board and became young people’s strongest champion. He was nominated by Dept for Communities and Local Government to be part of the REACH programme, which encourages young black men to become role models and advise Government on policy making. Speaking about Reach Ricardo said "My work on the Reach campaign is about shaping policy so young black men in this country benefit from the opportunities available, so they can seek better employment prospects and a better future."
Ricardo continues to work to help change the perception of young black men in society and has single-handedly paved the way for young people in the area to influence decision-making and have their say.
